Key Canadian filing dates
Personal T1 returns are generally due April 30. Self-employed individuals and their spouses or common-law partners generally have until June 15 to file, but any balance owing is still due April 30.
T2 corporate returns are generally due six months after the corporation's fiscal year-end, while the balance owing is generally due two months after year-end (three months for some Canadian-controlled private corporations). Dates can change and individual circumstances vary, so confirm the dates that apply to you.
Planning, not just filing
Good tax outcomes usually depend on decisions made during the year. We review your situation, explain the options that apply to you under Canadian rules, and help you prepare so that filing is a confirmation rather than a surprise. We do not guarantee a particular refund or tax saving, because results depend on your facts and on the legislation in force.
Who We Serve
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a T1 and a T2 return?
A T1 is the personal income tax return filed by individuals, including sole proprietors who report business income on it. A T2 is the corporate income tax return filed by incorporated businesses.
Do I need to file a GST/HST return?
If you are registered for GST/HST you must file returns, even if you owe nothing. Registration is generally required once your taxable revenues pass $30,000 over four consecutive calendar quarters, and many businesses register earlier by choice.
Can you help if I received a CRA notice?
Yes. Contact us as soon as you receive it, because notices have response deadlines. We review what the CRA is asking for and help you prepare a response.
What should I bring?
It depends on your situation, but usually your slips (T4, T5 and similar), receipts or bookkeeping records for any business income, and last year's notice of assessment. We confirm the list for your case when you contact us.
