Canadian payroll basics
Employers in Canada generally deduct Canada Pension Plan (CPP) contributions, Employment Insurance (EI) premiums and income tax from employee pay, then remit those amounts, along with the employer's share, to the CRA. How often you remit depends on the size of your withholdings.
T4 slips are generally due to employees and the CRA by the last day of February for the previous calendar year. Ontario employers may also have obligations such as Employer Health Tax or WSIB coverage, depending on the business, and we flag the items that are worth checking for yours.
Who We Serve
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you handle CRA payroll remittances?
Yes. Remittances of CPP, EI and income tax deductions are part of the payroll service, so that the right amounts reach the CRA on time.
When are T4 slips due?
T4 slips are generally due by the last day of February following the calendar year they cover. We prepare them as part of year-end payroll.
Do you support payroll outside Ontario?
Yes. We support Canadian employers in other provinces. Provincial rules differ, so tell us where your employees work and we confirm what applies.
